Yes! If your name changes then you normally get a new credit file. However Veda Advantage has some very clever IT people that have set up their database in such a way that it generates cross references. What this means is that they can tell that you have addresses, first name, middle name, date of birth, employment and some other data which is the same as your old credit file. So Equifax links the two files together.

When banks, mortgage brokers and other finance providers complete a credit check on you they will see it as one credit report. The data from the two files is combined into one report, with one Credit Score.

So any past defaults, credit problems or positive history (if you have been well behaved!) will continue to affect you after your marriage.
